Drawboard is building the Figma for PDF, a real time collaborative workspace used by millions globally across Windows, web, and iOS. We are a Melbourne based company working with global enterprise customers, including Toyota.

As our platform grows and enterprise requirements increase, our cloud backend is becoming more strategic to the business. We are looking for a senior engineer who can help lead the next phase of our cloud evolution.

The Role

We’re hiring a senior cloud engineer who can lead technically and help bring greater clarity and coordination to backend delivery as we scale.

Our Azure based backend platform is becoming increasingly central to enterprise customers and product growth. We need someone who can stay hands-on in the code while also assisting with architectural direction, improving planning discipline, and acting as a strong interface between engineering, product, and leadership.

This is not a pure management role. It is a senior technical leadership role but needs to know how to work with all stakeholders including non-engineers.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leading or assisting with designing and evolving our Azure cloud architecture
Building and maintaining scalable cloud based backend services using .NET and C#
Designing and delivering backend capabilities that integrate with enterprise systems and external platforms.
Driving best practices in distributed systems, scalability, performance, and observability
Providing technical leadership across backend initiatives
Improving planning, sequencing, and coordination of backend work in partnership with product
Reducing context switching and increasing delivery clarity for engineers
Mentoring and supporting other backend engineers
Contributing to infrastructure across Kubernetes, Redis, Cosmos DB, and related services

What We’re Looking ForExperience

8+ years building production backend systems
Demonstrated experience as a strong communicator across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
Deep experience with .NET and C#
Strong hands-on experience with Azure in production environments
Experience designing and operating distributed systems
Strong API design capability and understanding of scalable architectures
Familiarity with containerised workloads and Kubernetes

Leadership Qualities

Comfortable leading technical discussions and setting direction
Able to bring structure and clarity to backend delivery
Strong communicator who can work effectively with product, leadership, and non-engineers
Able to balance long term architectural thinking with pragmatic execution
Motivated to mentor and elevate the team around you

Bonus:

Experience in SaaS environments
Exposure to enterprise customers
Frontend experience, ideally React
