The Opportunity

This isn’t your typical commercial lawyer role. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, sales focused and versatile commercial lawyer to join our Sydney team on a full time basis in this unique and newly created business development role.

This opportunity is ideal for a generalist commercial lawyer with at least three years of experience in private practice. Previous client-facing experience in business development (sales) is ideal for this role, but the determination to win new business and exceed targets is critical.

On a day-to-day basis, you will speak with inbound SME leads to gain an understanding of their commercial legal needs, with the goal of:

  • determining whether LegalVision can assist them;
  • identifying the appropriate legal project to address their questions or situation; and
  • scoping and quoting their legal project, and assisting with their onboarding as a LegalVision client.

Success on the job requires the ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, accessible language for business owners, while demonstrating strong persuasive communication skills and creative problem-solving to effectively convert prospects into clients.

We assist with a broad range of commercial areas, largely for SME clients. Some of the common areas this role will handle include (among others):

  • Business sales and purchases;
  • Franchising and leasing;
  • General commercial contracts;
  • Employment matters; and
  • Trade marks.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced: At least three years of solid law firm experience, specialising in at least one of LegalVision’s commercial legal areas. You do not need to have a current practising certificate. Sales and business development experience in a legal context would be highly desirable.
  • Hungry: You want to control your own earning potential with access to uncapped commissions, and are motivated by results rather than delivering legal work.
  • Communication: Great verbal and written communication is essential.
  • Commercial: Practical, pragmatic and focuses on what’s important.
  • Efficient: Prioritises effectively; focuses on what matters; delivers on time.
  • Exceptional Client Service Skills: You love working with all types of businesses - big and small - and get a buzz out of providing them with the highest possible client experience, every time.
