Our team uses custom-built technology to deliver fast, high-quality legal support with predictable pricing for clients and rewarding careers for those who work here. With operations across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom, LegalVision offers unique progression pathways, exposure to diverse work at scale, and the opportunity to be part of an innovative law firm recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, a Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year.

The Opportunity

At LegalVision, we pride ourselves on our client-centric approach, combining legal expertise with technology to provide efficient, high-quality services to businesses of all sizes.

We're welcoming applications from New Zealand-based candidates to work remotely as part of our Australian Commercial (Consumer, Health and Tech) practice. You will support some of the country's most exciting businesses - from early-stage startups to established tech companies, healthcare providers and emerging industry leaders.

You'll take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, advising on complex commercial matters whilst supervising and mentoring junior lawyers. This role offers genuine autonomy, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to shape your own practice within a high-performing, supportive team.

If you're ambitious, commercially minded, and ready for more responsibility than a traditional senior associate role, this could be perfect for you.

Our NZ-based team works fully remotely, but we arrange offsites and other events a few times a year to come together. We also have access to a coworking space in Christchurch for those local to the area. The successful candidate will be provided with an allowance to set up a comfortable home office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and owning client relationships: You'll be the primary point of contact for your clients, acting as their trusted business adviser. Beyond delivering excellent legal work, you'll proactively identify opportunities to add value and help their businesses grow.
  • Advising across diverse industries and practice areas: Your clients will span tech, healthcare, SaaS, fintech, healthtech, NDIS and other cutting edge and emerging sectors. You'll draft, review and negotiate commercial and IT contracts, advise on intellectual property, licensing and partnership arrangements, and provide guidance on regulatory compliance, privacy law and consumer law matters.
  • Developing your team: You'll work with your Practice Leader to manage, mentor and train junior lawyers and graduates, helping them develop their technical skills and commercial judgment. This is a unique opportunity to build valuable people management skills.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Admitted to practise in New Zealand with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience, and currently holding or willing to hold a New South Wales practising certificate.
  • Technical expertise: Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements across various industries and transaction types.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with in-house legal teams and business stakeholders.
  • Practical Commercial Advice: A solutions-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly understand different people, businesses, industries, and legal requirements and adjust your approach accordingly.
  • Leadership: Experience directly managing or supervising junior lawyers; collaborative team builder and player who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Benefits

  • Gain exposure to a diverse range of clients and legal matters, and develop close relationships with your clients.
  • Build strong people management and supervision skills.
  • Enjoy flexibility and autonomy while working within an incredible team.
  • Have the ability to meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Fully remote role - work from anywhere in NZ!
