THE ROLE

We are looking for a People Coordinator to join as a key partner within the People team, providing expert advice and guidance to people managers and leaders on all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Reporting into our People Partnre, the People Coordinator works closely with both the People team and business leaders to ensure best practices in people operaions, employee relations, and talent management while maintaining compliance with employment regulations.

This role is an opportunity is a great stepping stone into a HR/People Advisory role. This role is part time, and intially for a 10 month contract period (parental leave backfill).

DAY TO DAY

Some of the things you woud be doing as a People Coordinator at Shippit:

People Advisory & Employee Experience

  • Act as a trusted advisor to people leaders and employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Drive engagement initiatives and support the delivery of key people programs, including onboarding, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  • Monitor employee experience and recommend improvements to enhance workplace culture and retention.
  • Act as the point of contact for visas, HR systems and third parties that Shippit relies on for People related systems, programs and tools.

People Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee key People processes such as onboarding, employment changes, and offboarding to ensure a seamless employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, workplace policies, and industry best practices.
  • Support People technology and data integrity, ensuring accurate records and insights from HRIS.
  • Develop and maintain People reporting and analytics, providing insights to support decision-making.

Talent & Workforce Planning

  • When necessary, partner with the Talent & Development Manager to support hiring managers in attracting and selecting top talent.
  • Assist in workforce planning initiatives by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Support internal mobility and career development initiatives to retain and grow talent within Shippit.

Culture & Wellbeing

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace.
  • Manage and enhance employee benefits, wellbeing programs, and engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the company’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and employer brand.

May be involved in

  • Support and coach managers on performance management, employee development, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide employee relations support, ensuring fair and consistent resolution of workplace issues.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Ideally 2 or more years previous experience in a People generalist or advisory role, preferably within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and People best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships.
  • Proficiency in HRIS/Talent systems (preferably BambooHR and Lattice) and Google Sheets for reporting and analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
