About the role

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Investment & M&A Analyst based in Sydney to work closely with our CEO.

You’ll help identify, assess and execute acquisition opportunities that support AMP’s growth. This is a hands-on role spanning deal sourcing, founder and broker conversations, financial analysis, due diligence and transaction execution.

The work will move quickly. You may be researching acquisition targets and contacting founders one day, then analysing a business, coordinating diligence or preparing an investment recommendation the next. You’ll need to be comfortable working with incomplete information, switching priorities and finding practical ways to keep opportunities moving.

Your area of ownership will cover:

  • Deal sourcing: Identifying technology and eCommerce businesses that fit AMP’s acquisition strategy.
  • Relationship development: Building connections with founders, brokers, advisers and other deal sources.
  • Pipeline management: Maintaining a clear, active pipeline and ensuring promising opportunities progress.
  • Opportunity assessment: Evaluating strategic fit, market position, product quality and growth potential.
  • Financial analysis: Building valuation models and assessing historical performance and future returns.
  • Due diligence and execution: Supporting opportunities from initial review through diligence, negotiation and completion.

What you’ll do

  • Research software, SaaS and eCommerce markets to identify acquisition targets.
  • Build and maintain a database of companies, founders, advisers and opportunities.
  • Proactively contact founders and develop relationships before they are ready to sell.
  • Speak regularly with brokers and advisers to uncover and assess new opportunities.
  • Screen opportunities against AMP’s strategic and investment criteria.
  • Analyse financial performance, revenue quality, customer concentration, growth and key risks.
  • Build valuation models, returns analyses and transaction scenarios.
  • Coordinate commercial, financial, legal, product and technology due diligence.
  • Prepare concise investment papers and recommendations for AMP’s leadership.
  • Support negotiations and transaction execution, keeping actions and stakeholders on track.
  • Use AI, automation and data tools to improve the speed and quality of sourcing and analysis.

About you:

  • You have relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, transaction advisory or commercial finance.
  • Experience with software, SaaS, technology or eCommerce businesses is highly regarded.
  • You are commercially curious and enjoy understanding how businesses operate, grow and create value.
  • You are innovative, proactive and comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.
  • You combine strong analysis with action and are equally willing to build a model, contact a founder or follow up with an adviser.
  • You can form a practical view with incomplete information and know when further detail is required.
  • You communicate confidently and build trust with founders, advisers and senior leaders.
  • You are persistent, resourceful and positive when priorities change or a deal encounters obstacles.
  • You take ownership, follow through and care about the quality of the outcome.
  • You bring sound judgement, attention to detail, integrity and discretion.
